Sichuan People’s Publishing House
Sichuan People’s Publishing House, founded in September 1952, is a comprehensive publishing society distributing a range of social science books on topics as diverse as the history of the Communist Party of China and of China, celebrity biographies, philosophy and religion, investment and financing, literature and art, and regional culture, as well as the magazine Long Men Zhen.
At the beginning of reform and opening-up, Sichuan People’s Publishing House enjoyed nationwide fame for being the first in the industry to publish large quantities of outstanding books represented by the “Into the Future” series.
Over the past 30 years, the company has earned a good reputation and strong economic benefits by releasing a series of books covering modern and contemporary history, human rights, religious studies, securities and investment, biographical paintings and books of leaders, works about Deng Xiaoping, Tian Xia Sichuan, and earthquake relief and post-disaster reconstruction.
Since 2010, the company has led more than 50 major national-level publishing programs, including 16 books of the 11th Five-Year Plan, 11 publishing programs aided by the special fund for national and ethnic characters, nine books on the 12th Five-Year Plan; six programs supported by the national publishing fund, one program as part of the reform and development program library under the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of the People’s Republic of China (SAPPRFT), and nine programs of “China Classics International.”
A number of quality books have been well received abroad and hundreds of book copyrights have been exported to the USA, Britain, Germany, the Netherlands, Russia, Egypt, Tunisia, Singapore, Japan, and South Korea.
The company’s publications have won a number of prizes, such as the “Five ‘One’ Project” Excellent Book Award (a good book, a good TV series, a good play, a good film, and a good article), the Chinese Government Award, the National Book Award, the China Book Award; the Award for Best Publications, and the National Award for Best Sellers.
